Wishing everyone a happy Chinese New Year. Today is the first day of the new year and of course I followed my family around to visit a few relatives. It was a great atmosphere. Everyone was happy and greeting each other. Some of us haven't met each other in a few years. Chinese New Year has always been a great occasion to return to your hometown and meet relatives.

Saturday night was the reunion dinner. I had dinner with relatives. Below are some pictures I took during the dinner. We had a lot of dishes and I think the dishes were delicious, even though they came with a hefty price (500+). We had the dinner at a restaurant. It was very hot there. Lucky for my uncle as he brought a traditional chinese fan along.





















As you all know, it is the Tiger Year, so my uncle had Tiger beer to celebrate. Of course I did not drink as I am underaged! But that's not the point, I wouldn't have drank it even if I am of legal age. :)





























Now here are the dishes !

There was lou-sang also. But as the adults were too eager to "mix" it, I did not have the chance to take a picture. But never mind, we proceed to the next dish. :/


Prawnroll with sauce, mushroom (I like this)



















Shark's fin soup. My favourite soup!




















Some type of steamed catfish. I don't know what it's called. But anyway, this is my favourite fish!




















Roasted piglet with white buns. I like the buns a lot.




















Prawns. I didn't eat this. >.<



















Lemon chicken. I didn't eat this also. Haha... I was feeling very full currently.



















Lotus and vegetables. Ate a bit of this. Don't like it much.




















Vegetables, mushrooms... I liked this dish a lot. Very delicious and it's vegetarian!




















Fried rice. Very fragrant and tasty. Ate a bowl of this.




















Longan and sea coconut. Very sweet. One of my favourite desserts.

















And that concludes the dishes. It was a very enjoyable evening. I've also taken some pictures of my house decoration and I've decided to show you all one!

2010 arrived some time ago, and now I am a Sec 2 student in Hwa Chong. I think I did well last year and I aim to do the same again this year. This year I am in class 2A3, but my form teacher is still Ms Yap. This year I am again in the CMC, holding the role of secretary this time. (I heard from people it is a slack job XD)

Anyway, a main difference in the subjects taught this year is that there is no more general science, instead it is split into chemistry, physics and biology. Another thing to note is that our history textbook is very heavy, and as the lady from the bookstore stated, it is "imported". Still, I enjoy having these classes as they are very interesting and enriching.

As of week 5 now, I think that lessons are going on very well and I am coping with the curriculum. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I am in a "Futureschool" programme this year. Students from these classes (there are two in Aphelion, my class and 2A1) are supposedly to be more independent and are supposed to research topics to be taught before lesson time. The thing I like about this is that we can bring laptops to school and they will be used in class! I think this will cause the students to be more engaging in class discussions and not fall asleep as they are surfing the internet. (based on my experiences :P)
